4 Hidden Benefits of Family Travel

Sep 19, 2023

When Dan and Natalie Reeves told me about getting robbed in Rome, I thought, “This is pure gold.” The fact that it was one of the best things that happened to them and their five kids reminded me of the power of getting out there in the world as a family.

It’s why Emily and I are huge advocates for family travel and adventure.

The reason to go isn’t to have a flashy Instagram grid.

It’s not to make your neighbors jealous.

It’s not to even to see amazing, beautiful places. (Although that’s a real side benefit.)

It’s because it’s one of the best ways we’ve discovered to connect with our kids and help them prepare for life. And it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

In fact, we love helping people learn how to do it for less using unconventional (and way fun!) approaches and techniques.

But when you go, here are some of the benefits for you and your kids:

  • Emotional resilience – “That didn’t go our way? Oh well. Let’s keep going.”
  • Gratitude – “We never realized how good we had it.”
  • Simplicity – “It’s shocking how little we need to be comfortable and happy.”
  • Humility – “We’re sorry, Mom. I can’t believe we ever complained about being bored.”

These are quotes from our conversation with Dan & Natalie Reeve’s. Give it a listen.

Family first doesn't mean Mom + Dad last.
